Liverpool FC's UEFA Cup Victory 2001

Liverpool FC fans flew out to Dortmund on the 16th May 2001 to witness one of the most exciting and heart-stopping European matches ever, as they took on Spanish side Deportivo Alaves in the final of the UEFA Cup. Liverpool finally won through, 5-4 after a "Golden Goal" in extra time. This achievement brought Liverpool FC a unique treble of trophies that season : The Worthington Cup, FA Cup and UEFA Cup.
Not only does Liverpool's success in Europe bring trophies...it brings aircraft! A group of aviation enthusiasts had gathered at the end of runway 27 at Liverpool Airport from the early hours, ready to feast on the arriving and departing aircraft in a day that brought back fond memories of the 70's and 80's European campaigns!
