Air Views - FC Basle Football Charters
With many thanks once again to Adrian Thompson and the Helicentre, we are able to bring you another collection of aerial shots of Liverpool John Lennon Airport. These were taken on 25th September 2002 - the day of the Liverpool FC v FC Basle European Champions' League match at Anfield. Click on the pictures for full-page images.
...........
The photo on the left, looking eastwards along the apron, shows an AirLIb DC-10 and Swiss Airbus A330, plus other aircraft present for the Basle match. The photo on the right, looking west, shows a Eurowings Airbus A319, with the two heavies in the background.
...........
The photo on the left shows a Belair Boeing 757 parked on stand 37. The Royal Mail sorting office can be seen in the background (right) and Emerald Airways offices (left). The right hand picture shows one of the Swiss MD-83s parked on the spur in front of the fire practice rig.
...........

The left hand photo is a superb view showing all nine aircraft which brought FC Basle supporters in to Liverpool. Nearest is a Neos Boeing 737-800. The photo on the right shows a close-up view of the Neos Boeing 737, complete with winglets.
...........

The left shot shows the second of two Swiss MD-83s parked down on the old "spur", or Yankee as it became known. It wears the newer Crossair livery. The right-hand photo, for completeness, shows the team plane (HB-IUO in the older Crossair scheme) arriving the day before. This particular photo is taken from the cabin below the control tower's visual control room, rather than a helicopter!
